How to Support Author Kody Boye

Updated: Dec 18, 2025

Hello everyone.

Writing is hard work, and to create the worlds you love to read about, I spend long hours seated at my computer, writing and revising my work to make it ready for publication. This doesn't factor in the financial side of things, which includes paying for artists to create cover art, people to edit my work for typos, or even to pay for advertising.

However, the journey from the first draft to the finished product is never done alone, nor is it a path taken without assistance from others.

If you've landed on this page on my blog, you're likely interested in learning about how you can help me succeed as an independent author. This list I have compiled offers options big and small, and from free to paid, that you can utilize to assist me throughout my author journey. Whether it's from buying a book, to writing a review, to becoming a patron, your support helps me continue writing the stories you love to read.

Please note that this blog contains affiliate links, which may offer me a commission when you click on them.

With that said, you can help me succeed by:

📚 Purchasing my work

  • 📚 Buying a book directly from Amazon generally offers me (and other authors) a higher royalty than it would were you to order through Kindle Unlimited.

  • 📚 Reading a book as part of your Kobo+ subscription also helps. Like Kindle Unlimited, Kobo+ allows you to read unlimited books on its platform. The best part is that you support authors with each page read!

  • 📚 Purchasing an audiobook (or redeeming one with a credit) through Amazon Audible allows you to listen on the go. If you don't have an Audible subscription, you can sign up here.

🫂Sharing my work

  • 🫂 Sharing a physical book with a family member or a friend may inspire them to purchase a copy for themselves.

  • 🫂 Engaging with posts on social media, such as liking a post on my Instagram or sharing a post from my Facebook group, not only pushes me higher up in the algorithms, but can also expose my work to others in your network. This is especially useful if I am running a promotion or a sale.

  • 🫂 Requesting that your local library stock paperbacks of my work, or even having them opt in to carry my eBooks or audiobooks, can help expose others to my work. I even receive royalties when someone checks out a book at their library!

💰Becoming a patron

  • 💰 Offering a one-time donation through my Ko-Fi page can help fund expenditures both big and small.

  • 💰 Becoming a recurring patron on Patreon is a tremendous help.

  • 💰 Buying an item from my business needs wishlist on Amazon can help me obtain items that are useful for my overall writing or promotional processes.

👋Providing support

  • 👋 Becoming a member of my Facebook group, and engaging with the content I post there, helps solidify that I have a community behind me on my primary social media presence. This is the same for following me on Instagram, my BlueSky profile, or any of my other socials.

  • 👋 Sending occasional encouragement also reminds me that you're reading my books. I love communicating with my readers, and always make time for them.

  • 👋 Leaving reviews on Amazon and Goodreads also helps boost me in the algorithm, and helps others learn what you liked (or didn't like) about my work!

As always: I never expect anyone to do anything outside of their comfort zone. However, I feel this list is a good starting point for anyone who wants to learn how they can support me, and other authors in the process!
